Vote at the conference

There are two types of workshops at the conference.

  1. General workshops are sessions where one can learn from the experience of others.
  2. In internal affairs workshops, activists discuss the proposals related to self organising within ILGA. Those proposals are later put to a vote in a plenary session. Only members of ILGA with voting rights have the right to vote and make proposals that will be considered at the conference.

According to ILGA’s constitution (which applies at this conference in the absence of a regional constitution), groups which represent

  • male-only organisation have one vote
  • women only organisation have two votes
  • mixed organisations have two votes if they send a male and a female delegate to the conference. If only a man or a women can attend, then the group should provide a letter authorizing the delegate to vote on behalf of the missing gender.

This year, we have decided to ask each participant to bring a letter of endorsement from its group. This letter can include a statement from the gender not participating physically to the conference authorising the participant to vote on its behalf.

* In order to fully participate to the event, make proposals that will be considered at the conference, present a candidate and vote, an LGBT group needs to become a full member of ILGAand pay its annual contribution to the work of the organisation.

  • ILGA’s membership fee is 20 Euro/year or 25 USD/year
  • A group that is already an ILGA member can vote if it has paid its fees for the current and previous year
  • New members only have to pay the fee for the current year
  • There will be no waiver nor discount on membership fees
  • Groups will be able to become members of ILGA and pay their membership at the conference
